The Winnegator Legend

In a land of lakes and craters
Formed by glaciers years ago,
Lurks the mighty Winnegator
On the shores of Winnebago

Though few have seen the creature
(And some say it doesn’t exist),
We have watched its fearful features
As it rises from the mist.

Half fish, half alligator,
From some prehistoric era,
The mighty Winnegator
Fills the bravest heart with terror.

Its breath is hot and foul,
It’s really terribly smelly,
And it’s always on the prowl
To fill its hungry belly.

Some say it isn’t fussy
About what’s on the menu,
In winter eating snowmobiles,
In summer munching Sea-Doos.

But if you treat it with respect
As all living things deserve,
You have no reason to expect
To end up as hors d’oeuvres.

And when the camp is over,
You can raise your voice in song,
Singing “See you later Winnegator,
Good bye, farewell, so long!”
